The Call We Didn’t Expect

A young mother had chosen life for her second child. After troubling updates and a request for no more contact, her grandmother called LIFEHOUSE with news we had not expected.

“Please don’t contact me.”

The message came from the grandmother of a young mother our LIFEHOUSE team knew. The mother had spent time at LIFEHOUSE and had chosen life for her second child. When she left, she was twenty weeks pregnant.

In the weeks that followed, messages brought troubling news of family violence and displacement. Her grandmother was trying to protect her granddaughter and the baby she was carrying. After violence from the baby’s father, the young mother fled the home.

During that time, the request for no more contact arrived. We feared the worst. We were heartbroken and struggling to hold on to our faith.

Then the grandmother called LIFEHOUSE, looking for us.

It took a few moments to connect the names and dates. When we did, the tears came. Sarah cried, too.

In a message, the grandmother told us that her granddaughter wanted to thank us in person for helping her choose life. They wanted us to meet the baby.

Now we are preparing to welcome them with gifts and treats, and to meet this little miracle. We will thank God for His care for this mother and her child.
